Presentation of the web-portal Polar Station Tikhaya Bay took place

On 19 June 2024 at the headquarters of the Russian Geographical Society (St. Petersburg) within the framework of the Polar Commission meeting the presentation of the web-portal "Polar Station Tikhaya Bay" took place. Project participants P.A.Filin and M.A.Emelina told about the idea of the project, the progress of its implementation, the history of the station and the prospects of creating the world's northernmost museum. The meeting was moderated by the traveller and honorary polar explorer V.I.Boyarsky.

On the web-portal visitors will be able to make a unique 3d walk around the station, get acquainted with the history of polar research and the process of restoration of the unique complex of buildings in Tikhoi Bay.

In the near future we plan to finalise a special web application that can be downloaded to a smartphone. This application will be very useful for those who will go to Tikhaya Bay as part of the tourist voyages of the nuclear icebreaker 50 Let Pobedy to the North Pole! This application is an interactive map and audio guide to the polar station Buchta Tikhaya. The presence of this application will make the visit to the station orders of magnitude more interesting, rich and meaningful.

The web portal was developed by the Arctic Museum and Exhibition Centre in cooperation with the Russian Arctic National Park with the support of the Potanin Foundation (Industrial Experiment competition).
